I dont visit the Mission that much, but when I do, I always eat at Yamo. The house noodles are consistently good and filling for such a good price. Be warned that its cash only, and its a small place, so youll need to be comfortable sitting closely with others as you devour their delicious food.

We had the house noodles with chicken and samusas, both were delicious and really good for the cheap prices. Service is friendly and efficient. There s not much space to sit and is cash only.

Am baffled as to how this place gets rave reviews. Yes, its super cute eating at a divey hole in the wall place and you feel like a super smart insider for getting a place at the 8-seater bar and supporting the local economy. But, that doesnt take away from the fact that the food is average at best, and the service is awful. The mango chicken was bland with very little taste. The tofu noodles were doused in Sriracha sauce and little else. The lady serving is extremely rude, and only seemed to smile at people she knew. She curtly told us no photos in my kitchen - a please wouldnt have been amiss. Likewise, no niceties when serving our food or asking if we liked it. Not even a smile. Also, not accepting card payments in 2018 is just unacceptable and a complete lack of respect to your customers. San Francisco has so many fabulous places to eat; dont waste a meal here.

Note on hours: Yamo is only open for dinner. They open every day at 5:30pm except Sunday when they are closed. Google finally accepted an edit from me but Im leaving this note here in case it gets reversed (I have tried many times to correct the hours on Google maps but Google does not accept the edits for some reason. Please dont slam Yamo if you show up for lunch and they are closed, it is not their fault that Google refuses to correct the hours.) Yamo is a great little spot where quick Burmese dishes are served at very affordable prices. Two entrees and two appetizers with tax runs about $22. Everything is extremely fresh and really tasty, and if you dont want to wait for one of the few counter seats, you can always get your food to go and eat at home or any of several nearby bars (I suggest Benders)

Yamo is an extremely affordable spot in the Mission! I ordered the Yamo House noodles and once I added plenty of my own chili oil and sesame dressing, it was great! Without the additions to the dish it s a bit bland. I also had the mango chicken and it was pretty good, nothing to write home about but definitely worth getting again! I ve added a photo of their menu with an employee s favorite dishes circled.

Yamo was recommended by a friend who raved about their tea leaf salad and how cheap the restaurants was priced. Upon first arrival, the daughter of the mother-daughter duo was curt and to the point, verging on rude while taking my order. That s ok. I can forgive that. I was mostly excited to try the food. I got the tea leaf salad, spring rolls, chicken curry noodle soup, curry chicken and black bean fish. The best: tea leaf salad - citrusy, crunchy, fresh. Pretty good - chicken curry noodle soup - fragrant, but one note. The bad - spring roll - bland with thick peanut sauce as the only saving grace but even the peanut sauce couldn t cover up blandness of the roll. The worst - chicken curry - no flavor. I watched it being made. I think it s just curry that s been thickened with corn starch and there s so little flavor in the curry that once all the ingredients come together, the curry effectively erases all other flavor. Black bean fish - slightly better than the chicken curry but same issues. There are whole fermented black beans in the dish that somehow impart no flavor to the dish unless you chomp on a whole bean which few like to do. I will say though that all the stir fry dishes have a char or wok hei flavor but that s the only flavor you ll get out of these dishes. I was really disappointed by the food here but sometimes the price = quality. Some of the dishes tasted like the worst Chinese food I ve had the misfortune to try and the owners have been somehow passed off this food as Burmese. Tis a lie I tell you. I think Burmese people will be disappointed to try this food.

Yamo was recommended to us by quite a fancy restaurant outside the city. The idea of a Burmese hole in the wall caught my attention. Yamo offers a simple menu with noodle, house, and curry dishes. They are also very cheap and good for a large meal or take out.

I love this spot, but my wife did not enjoy watching the younger employee handling both food and cash without gloves. I think you should seriously consider modernizing to touchless only. Hear me out: You dont have enough space to have both cooks and cashiers. It takes time to collect payment. You seem to try to memorize a certain number of orders by memory. Instead if you use QR codes to take orders (I realize there will be a fee) you can focus all physical energy on creating and delivering food and less energy on memorization and dealing with stupid customers. If you do that Ill give you 5 stars, but I realize thats a big ask. However my wife will never come back until the health level is improved.

Underwhelming flavors. Came at 6:40 on a Friday. A handful of people in line waiting for the 6-8 bar seats inside. After waiting a few minutes we decided to order to-go instead, which took less than 10 minutes. Got the yamo house noodles and fish curry, plus egg rolls, all for $18! Unfortunately the food didn t live up to the hype. Noodles were dry and curry tasted like water! I know my palette is not very well developed, but even for the cheap price I don t think I ll be back.

This is precisely the kind of run-down hole-in-the-wall place that hipsters will publicly fellate themselves over having found. Theyll promise that it serves palatable food and is one of the Missions best kept secrets. Sadly, some secrets should stay secret. And the biggest secret about Yamo is how theyve managed to stay in business serving food so tasteless it makes me seriously question whether Ive recently contracted a bout of COVID. Both the black bean fish and chicken curry looked and tasted like a hodge podge of ingredients lazily thrown together and slathered with watery ejaculate. The tofu spring rolls were bland and accompanied by a sauce that had the color and consistency of a severe yeast infection. If I had to guess, the only thing this place cooks well are their books - because they accept cash only.
